Easter Dresses

Now this is why I sew. I love, love LOVE when a project in my head actually comes out looking like I want it to. I'm not sure I've ever made something I like so much. So... one down, two more (partially done) to go!

Close-up of the fabric:

It's hard to see it not in real life, but the shirring caused the embroidered flowers to gather up as tight little puffy flowers... love:

There is some debate about whether or not to add the ribbon (Breanne doesn't really want it), but I think it looks better with it. What do you think?

To give credit where credit is due--I based this dress off of images of Made's Summer Vacation Dress, with a lot of help on the sleeves from my wonderful friend e. over at pinksuedeshoe (this is almost the same as her Turtle Dress). I love the look of the shirred bodice, and it's so easy to do! I changed it up from both of those, though, with my own addition of a circle skirt. I love me some circle skirts. Minus the hem, but that's a different story. :)

That is absolutely darling! Did you do the shirring yourself? I'm very impressed with the dress. And I think, yes, add the ribbon.

Really darling. I like the ribbon but it does look just fine without.

I need to investigate elastic thread, this is not the first time I've heard of it's amazing properties...

LOVE it. I have the same question as Katherine...Did you do the shirring yourself?? If you did, please share your knowledge; I'm totally impressed! Also, I vote YES on the ribbon.

I LOVE it!!! You did such an amazing job! And I think it's so sweet with the ribbon. If Breanne doesn't like it, oh well. At least you can make the other two wear the sash. :) And you're right, the yellow is much softer than the swatch you showed me. Seriously cute fabric. Seriously cute dress.

Did you leave out the zippers then?

I love it! I agree, I like the ribbon, but it is also cute without it. Your girls will look adorable on Easter!

LOve the dress, so cute. I would say if she's going to pout with the ribbon forgo. on just that one. It looks good both ways. More sunday dress with the ribbon. More I'm going to a picnic the other way. And I to am impressed.

Oh, oh, oh, this is just too cute. I, too, love that feeling when the image in your head matches with the real-world product. :)

You always find the cutest patterns and really helpful tutorials--thanks for the links and for sharing your projects. It's really inspiring!

I love it Jessie - it's beautiful and I really like the ribbon. But I'm guessing since it's Breanne's dress you'll have to cave and leave it off. It looks good without too.

I love it! I vote for the ribbon. The punch of white really finishes off the dress.

Oh it turned out so cute! I like it with the ribbon, but not if you have to fight her about it. And your sleeves look perfect! Can't wait to see them in action!
