Sweetest Prayer Ever

So Breanne has been willing to say prayers by herself a lot lately, and while I always love listening to her pray, tonight's prayer was especially touching.  It went something like this:

Heabenwy Fader,
Thank you day,
Thank you food,
Thank you Janey go doctor,
Thank you we get medicine for Janey,
In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

I'm not a very emotional person (meaning I don't cry much, as long as I'm not pregnant), but this simple prayer brought tears to my eyes.  With no coaching or anything, Breanne remembered to be thankful that we could take Janey to the doctor and get medicine for her.  After a long day at the doctors and at home, it was so nice to remember that Breanne really does love her sister.

(And just to calm your worried minds, Janey just has a gunky cold in her sinus-y stuff, but it isn't in her lungs, so so far, so good.  She does, however, have a double ear infection, which is no fun, but at least treatable with antibiotics.  One more way in which she is just like her sister.  And as for the long day at home, let me just say this:  when you rub sidewalk chalk against the fireplace cover thing, it's basically like rubbing it against a grater.  Ugh.)

A Few Things About Breanne

She loves having her toenails and fingernails painted, and prefers when you let her pick out the color herself.

She loves her slide (and watching tv from the top of her slide...)

She really loved "driving" this bus at the mall... until some strange kid got on and actually put money in the thing to make it go...

And she loves loves loves pretending.  About anything.  For example:
What you may see in these pictures is her blessing dress.  What she sees is Meg, and she is pretending to be Hercules.
Loving her "Meg,"

And showing you her Herculean muscles.

Down here, she is being an airplane.  Which is much more important than eating her lunch, obviously.

And these are some of my personal favorites-- A normal puppy dog, a happy puppy, and a sad puppy.  Don't ask me how the happy puppy actually looks like a puppy.  That's just her face any time you tell her to look like a happy puppy.  What a funny girl.

Breanne does not love taking naps anymore, and most days, flat out refuses.  Even though she obviously still needs them on occasion:

My Favorite phrases Breanne uses a lot right now:

Oooh, that a nice choice for you!
What you favorite...?
Come sit by me, Mommy!
What you doin', Mom?
I'n a watch a movie!

All nice, right?  Well, how about these?

Get lost!
Yeave me a-yone!
I can't!
Go 'way!

I think someone has seen entirely too much of Oscar the Grouch lately.  But I sure do love this girl, and her sweet ways.  She's getting so big! and so opinionated about everything, but I love watching her grow, and learn, and be herself.  Her pretend play just melts me sometimes.  I love the conversations her dolls have (most often they're repeats of conversations we've had lately... :)), and the way she portrays her couples.  I hope they're a reflection of what she sees from us... though I don't think we kiss nearly as often as her prince and princesses do... :)

By the way, I'm so sorry about the crappiness of some of these pictures--I don't know what has happened to my camera--all the settings look fine to me, but it's acting like it's way over-exposing the pics or something--we really need a new camera.  But I figured something was better than nothing.

That Wild Herschel...

So Breanne regularly pretends to call people from her pretend phones.  Tonight was no different.  She had the xBox audio adapter (which has a button on it), and was pretending to call all of her grandmas.  She'd hand us the phone, and say "it's gramma, she wan' talk you!" so we'd ask her "which grandma?" and she'd respond "my Wilde gramma" or "my Kilger gramma."  We took the opportunity to explain to her (again, we talk about this regularly) that her grandmas are our moms.  So then, when she was done calling her grandmas, she made one last phone call--to "my Wilde Herschel."  We'd try to correct her by saying it's just Herschel, the only one we know, but she wanted very much to specify that it was her Wilde Herschel that she wanted to call.  Too funny.

- Wanted to be a model?: No, like I said, I like being comfortable, and a little bit resereved.
- Where do we go when we die: Spirit World.
- Worst weather: Unbearable heat ties with freezing cold grossness in my book. You know, the kind of hot where you can't even put your kids in their carseats because you don't want them to get burned, and the kind of cold where it hasn't snowed in a while so the grossness in the air is all trapped in the vallies where we live and breathe? Ugh.

-X-Rays: Yep, I broke my nose (and the dr tried to x-ray my arm by mistake... sheesh!), and my arm. Also dentals.

Y
-Year it is now: 2009. Wow.
-Yellow: I love yellow. It's such a happy color. I want to paint my bathroom yellow. And maybe my bedroom, I'm not sure.

Z

- Zodiac sign: Virgo

And I tag you to do it. Yes, that's right, you. Ready, set, go!

Happy (Belated) Holidays!

So I don't know about you, but we had some great holidays this year.  We tried really hard to keep things small, and it made things so much nicer--so much less stress!  And, sadly, I don't have a single picture of the girls opening presents--some great video, but I don't know how to upload that yet (and I can't do it on my slow old compy, anyways, so you'll just have to wait).  Suffice it to say, Breanne was very excited about her new slide (we found it at a yard sale a couple weeks before Christmas... bonus!), and insisted on sliding down it many times before finally getting around to opening her stocking and her presents.  And she almost didn't want to open anything after finding the Pony and Batman bandaids at the top of her stocking, too.  What a funny girl.  Janey didn't open much, but she did like all the soft stuffed animals she received, and her little doll (she immediately took to sucking on her face... silly girl).

We were able to focus more on our little family this year, which really helped me remember the important things we really celebrate at this time of year.  In years past, there's been so much hustle nad bustle that I was just exhausted all day--this year, we spent Christmas Eve up at my parent's and grandparent's homes, and then visited Cory's family on Christmas day, and had my parents and brothers down for dinner at our house.  I had just tossed together a quick crockpot meal, which worked out wonderfully.  I just can't say enough how much I loved doing less on Christmas day--we'll hopefully be alternating Christmas Eve and Christmas day with our two families from here on out.  Big fan of that.

Moving on--Happy New Year!  2008 really flew by for me--I still can't believe Janey is almost 10 months (it still seems like she just got here!) and Breanne is almost 3--how did I get to be old enough to have a 3-year-old?  Both girls are amazing me every day with their new things--Janey in the large-motor-skills-development area, and Breanne with her words and sentences and witty remarks... I'll go into more detail another time.  The point of this paragraph is to get out my resolution for this year--I want to be just a little bit better.  A better wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and secretary.  I'd like to be just a little kinder, a little more forgiving, a little more genuinely happy, and a little more on top of things.  I'd like to actually do my best, so that is what I am going to strive for this year.
