20 Weeks and a Poll

Halfway there... with an ultrasound on Friday, hooray! Feel free to participate in my first ever poll, on my sidebar. You can vote on what gender you think the baby is until 9:30 on Friday, the day and time of my ultrasound.

The facts about this pregnancy thus far: I haven't had nearly as much morning sickness, but I haven't been taking a regular prenatal vitamin, either. With both of my girls, I was very diligent about taking my vitamins (and was extremely sick), but with this pregnancy, when I started taking them (at about 5 weeks) and I started getting really, really sick, I stopped, and the sickness mostly went away (I was still sick in the evenings, but as long as I took my unisom and B6, and went to bed before 11:00, I was ok). So take that for what it's worth. Also, I have craved red meat, but had an aversion to chicken (thankfully that seems to have stopped with the nausea a few weeks ago). And fruit, for the first trimester, I ate an apple almost every day.

I have the usual aches and pains starting up already, but nothing I can't handle yet. I also started feeling the baby move a couple weeks ago, and Cory has been able to feel the baby move a few times over the last 2 weeks, too. I love that part.

So... so far so good. I'm excited to finally see this baby on Friday, and to see what you all think it'll be.

Oh, and don't worry, I've still been taking a folic acid supplement to make up for the missed prenatal vitamin--that is the most important part (especially since my iron levels are always somewhat freakishly high).

Crafty

Yesterday I finally went and got the supplies I'd need to make my own wreath for fall--I've been wanting something fun to put on my door for a while, but didn't want to pay a fortune for it all. Now, don't be deceived, this was still almost as much as buying one pre-made (read: $20), but I like it better than any of the ones I saw. What do you think?

Preschool

So last week, Breanne started preschool. I know, right? How can she possibly be old enough? But she LOVES it. She goes twice a week, for 2 1/2 hours each day. Oh, and 40 minutes of every day is spent doing gymnastics. She loves that too, but not as much as she loves art time, and reading books with her teachers. She is only 3, so she'll be able to do two years of preschool, and I'm hoping she can do both of them at this same place (the only reason she'd change is if we moved, but we're not planning on doing that just yet), because we love it.

A few pictures from her first day:

Obligatory shot by the front door:

Walking outside the classroom by the bench:

Getting out her (soon to become) favorite book:

Reading said book with her teacher, Miss Ashley (who is patient enough to read it to her every morning):

And riding the "train" to the zoo, the jungle, or wherever their imaginations take them (with Spencer, our friend from across the street):

I'm so glad Breanne has loved school so much--I know I always did, too, and I'm glad she has that love for learning already. This has also been a great thing for Janey and myself, as we now get to spend more time one-on-one, which we haven't ever really had, and won't have for a whole lot longer, with another baby coming so soon.

The Sign?

I had to laugh out loud when I saw this around the corner from my house... someone covered up just the right letter, I'd say.

17 Weeks

Don't mind my crazy hair or silly smile... this was after a 3.2 mile hike up a mountain to Lake Mary. We went on this hike under the impression (given to us by Cory's dad and bro-in-law) that it was a fairly flat, one mile in, one mile out, hike. It was not one mile, nor at all flat. I'm still glad we went, though, it was nice to be outside enjoying the beauty Utah has to offer. A few more Kelly took:

In Case You Were Wondering

I'm thinking about starting a series of posts by that title. What do you think? You might have to give me some ideas of what you're wondering about. For today, though, I know this pressing question has been on your mind-- How do I like my sandwiches cut?

When Cory and I first got married and started making sandwiches together, he was surprised to find out that I still like my sandwiches cut. He prefers his whole. I, on the other hand, cut every sandwich. The type of sandwich determines how I cut it, though.

In general, if the sandwich has some sort of schmear on it, like pb&j, for example, I cut it diagonally. It is easier to eat without getting it on my face, since the shape is narrower.

If the sandwich has a more solid substance on it, however, such as a tomato sandwich, or a ham and cheese, then it has to be cut down the center. The larger sizes of bread help hold the solid on better.

I know, I know, you're thinking, if it's cut in half, regardless of the shape, the size is the same. The area of a sandwich doesn't change when you cut it. But the shape really does make a difference. I promise.

So there you have it. Now what are you really wondering?

15 Weeks

I am definitely getting bigger, and (I hope) looking actually pregnant, not just chubby. What do you think?

Since Janey was hanging out with me while I was taking the pictures, she demanded I take one of her as well...

and she actually smiled for it! Progress. :)

Picture Heavy Update

So the new header picture is a pretty accurate description of what's been going on around here--a bit of a mess, crazy kids (wearing whatever they choose, of course!), and a generally good time. While I don't totally feel like writing a full on post about what we've been doing, I will give you a whole bunch of pictures to enjoy (since I've finally adjusted to having an iPhone and think I might even know how to use it, kind of), with a little explanation. I'm sorry that I'm putting all of this into one post, I'm sure I'll take a lot of flack for that, but I'm just not in the mood to separate them all right now. So enjoy. :)

First: Breanne has figured out how to use Photobooth on my computer. For those of you who don't know what that is--it's basically what it sounds like. You sit in front of the computer cam, and snap pictures of yourself like you would in a photobooth in the mall. Breanne loves it, and frequently requests that we take pictures. And thus I end up with massive amounts of them, like this:

Also, Breanne continues to love on our cat, Hazel. Fortunately for her, Hazel is still a good natured little kitty, and puts up with quite a bit of abuse, as seen here:

Janey, on the other hand, is more interested in Dad's electronics:

We've enjoyed one visit to the Aquarium up in Sandy already, and will be going back again many times, I'm sure, as the girls loved it. Some favorites:

The Jellyfish (it's the light changing colors, not the fish, don't worry):

Seahorses, Octopus, and other random fishies:

And especially the part where you can pet the fish:

(Don't worry, Janey got to pet plenty of fish too, I just had to hold on to her tightly so she didn't jump in there with 'em, so I didn't get any pics).

Janey's other favorite part was the sharks tank--Breanne liked it too, but Janey was just in awe of the big fish:

And just some random ones in the stroller around the aquarium, and playing in the rocks:

After the aquarium, we went to the mall to eat, and of course Breanne couldn't resist a ride on the carousel (Janey, on the other hand, does not like carousels right now):

Janey came into the living room one day, so so proud of herself for having dumped out all the cookie cutters from the clear bucket they belonged in, and was wearing it as a mask/hat. She was whacking herself in the face and laughing hysterically. I couldn't get over how funny she was being, and it didn't take Breanne long to follow suit. They then took to tapping on each other's faces... crazy funny girls. And yes, Breanne is wearing her swimsuit, and no, we didn't swim that day.

Janey has become quite the little dancer these days, as is seen in this sequence of pictures (yes, she is dancing to Veggie Tales. Can't say I blame her, they've got some pretty good music):

One of my favorite things to do these days is to ask Janey to smile for the camera--she just doesn't quite get it.. and usually the resulting pics look something like these:

And last but not least, it feels like we've been spending a lot of time in the car, and as a result, I've caught a few good pics of the girls:

If you've made it through this whole post, you get one last treat--Stuart saw fit to take a few pictures of himself on my phone back when I first got it--I think he wanted me to post them up here. So here ya go:

I haven't totally been slacking over here...

I've just been busy working on something else.

Sorry about the lame video, blogger won't just let me upload the audio, which was the whole point... and in case you've never heard such audio before, let me explain.

That is the heartbeat of our next child. We are so excited to announce that I am currently almost 12 weeks pregnant. I'm due February 16th, 2010, and we really couldn't be happier that our family is growing.

To answer the usual questions, yes, this was planned, yes I've been sick, but nowhere near as sick as I was with my first two pregnancies, and this baby and Janey will be almost exactly the same distance apart as Breanne and Janey are. Really, we are so excited, and can't wait to have another wonderful addition to our family.

So please pardon my absence. I've been exhausted lately--growing people is hard work. Totally worth it, though.
